Apple Dumplings

Since the opening of their first restaurant in 1978, The Machine Shed has upheld their commitment to quality using only the best beef, pork and poultry. Their menu items are caringly made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. The Morning Blend welcomes The Machine Shed as they share some of their delicious recipes with our viewers.

6 apples peeled and cored
2 lbs favorite pie dough
6 teaspoon cinnamon sugar
2 oz  margarine

For sauce:
1 qt hot water
2 cups sugar
1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
4 oz margarine, melted

For dumplings:
Roll out pie dough to approx. ¼” thickness. Cut into 5” squares. Place a whole apple in center of each square. Place 1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar in center of each apple Place margarine in each hole. Fold up opposite corners of dough, pinching them together. Place evenly in a 9 by 6 “ cake pan.
Mix all sauce ingdrients together. Pour over each dumpling till sauce is gone. Sprinkle top lightly with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 350 until golden brown approx 1 hour. Allow to cool before removing from pan.
Top with left over sauce from pan or sauce goes great over vanilla ice cream. Serve warm or cold.
