Saltine Cracker Candy
Yield: 6 Servings

The kids are home from school with nothing but time on their hands to empty the fridge and your cupboards. Keeping hungry kids filled up with healthy options isn't easy, but you can make some homemade treats that taste great to save money and, even better, the kids can help you do it. We're showing you some simple recipes for yogurt pops, homemade lemonade and veggie dips that even picky eaters will like.

35 - 40 saltines
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Line a 15 x 10" baking sheet (jelly roll pan) with foil & coat with nonstick cooking spray.
Place crackers in rows on foil. In saucepan, melt butter; add sugar & bring to rolling boil. Boil for 3 minutes.
Pour over crackers & spread until completely covered. Bake at 350 for 5 minutes. (Crackers will float!) Remove from oven. Turn oven off.
Sprinkle choc. chips & walnuts over crackers. Return to oven until choc. is melted, about 3 - 5 minutes. Remove from oven. Using a greased spatula, press nuts into choc.
Cut into 1" squares while warm. Cool completely; remove candy from foil.
